American Life Expectancy Has Doubled in the Past Century
01-21-2016
More and more Americans are living past 100, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Experts say better medicine and public health efforts have helped Americans live longer.
Life expectancy in 1915 was just over 52 for men, and 57 for women. So people who are 100 today have basically doubled their expected longevity.
Also, people over 100 include all groups: men and women, whites, blacks, and Hispanics.
