Homeless Man Beaten, Left for Dead Has Message for Attackers
A homeless Texas man says he forgives his attackers for beating him and nearly killing him.
"King" Arthur Bennett of Midland, Texas, shared with CBS 7 that forgiveness is the only avenue to true healing.
"The Lord forgives everybody," Bennett told the news outlet. "If they done wrong, if they stole, or whatever -- the Lord still loves them."
A little more than two weeks ago, doctors released the 65-year-old Bennett from the hospital; he had been there for nearly half a week. The attack resulted in four broken ribs, internal bruising, and an infection.
According to a GoFundMe page, Bennett has been a part of a local church, Church Under the Bridge, for three years. The pastor, Evan Rogers, is helping to raise funds for Bennett.
The GoFundMe page says any money raised will go toward the cost of a small wooden trailer in which Bennett now lives. The page has raised more than $6,000.
