Report: ISIS Intel Was 'Cooked' to Downplay Threat
08-11-2016
The House Republican Task Force has discovered that officials with the U.S. Military's Central Command changed intelligence reports to put a more postive spin on the fight against ISIS and al Qaeda.
Officials told The Daily Beast that a report on the controversy is expected to be released in a few days.
The Daily Beast reports that while there is no conclusive evidence that White House officials ordered the reports to be doctored, the five-month investigation did find that analysts were pressured by the leaders of CENTCOM's intelligence directorate to play down the threat from ISIS.
The House Republican Task Force was created after more than 50 analysts filed a formal complaint claiming their reports on ISIS and al Qaeda's branch in Syria were being doctored by senior officials.
Some told The Daily Beast they felt they were working in a hostile, toxic office and felt "bullied" to draw conclusions not supported by the facts.
