It's a story that's baffled firefighters and defied all odds.

An infant violently ejected through the window during a car accident survives with nothing more than a minor scratch.

"There had to be some kind of divine intervention for her to end up being OK," firefighter Josh Moore said after pulling an infant girl from a storm drain.

The crash scene on Texarkana, Arkansas' Interstate 30 was littered with mangled vehicles. According to CNN, a truck side swept a family car, flipping it over and sending the baby inside flying through the window.

The situation was dire and survivors searched the area to no avail. They could not find the missing infant.

It wasn't until search and rescue teams arrived on the scene and heard a sound.

The sound was coming from the storm drain. When they looked inside they saw the infant sitting alive and looking up at them.

"The baby ... was sitting up and looking up at us waiting for us to pull her out," Moore said.

The baby was taken the hospital with the four other people in the car. All have been released except for the driver who is stiIl healing from the accident.

Texarkana Fire Capt. Charlie Smith says miraculous stories like these are needed around the holidays.

"So many times, we go out and things aren't OK...and just during the holidays here to have a positive just feels good," fellow rescuer Texarkana Fire Capt. Charlie Smith said.
