'Day of Mourning' for America's Most Innocent Victims: These Photos Tell the Story

Tens of thousands of Americans spent their Saturday mourning over the millions of unborn babies who have been killed since Roe v. Wade became the law of the land in 1973. They were compelled to take action after New York's recent abortion law stunned the nation, raising awareness of a series of similar radical late-term abortion bills being passed by Democratic lawmakers in other states as well.

The nationwide "Day of Mourning" took place on February 23rd as a solemn time of prayer and repentance. The primary event was a rally in Albany, New York, right in the location where the state's extreme pro-abortion law was signed last month alloweing unborn babies to be aborted right up until the moment of birth.

The "Day of Mourning" Facebook page reports, "In three weeks, we organized a massive event with over 3,000 in attendance, streamed to 28 cities, with 34 thousand people watching the livestream at the same time!! Only God! His hand is on this movement, folks!! 'The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning...' God, hear our prayer and heal our land"

Numerous photos of the events both small and large were posted to social media, including this powerful crowd shot.

Students from a Christian school called Valor College posted, "With the tragedy that has happened in our nation & in the state of New York, today on the 'National Day of Mourning,' we stand up for life. Join us as we pray for our government leaders & those who have been affected by these laws."

The Moms March for America posted, "Our Moms for America organization is officially CLOSED today in observance of #DayOfMourning. If you are attending with us today, tag us with your location in the comments. https://www.dayofmourning.org  #MomsForAmerica #EndAbortion #ProLife #DayOfMourningRally

This photo shows dozens of pastors from New York repenting and pledging to no longer drown out the cries of the unborn and to turn their repentance into action.

Christian blogger Beckie Lindsey tweeted, :Unborn lives matter! This is only one of the Day of Mourning events that took place across the United States from NY to CA. We met in Apple Valley to pray and take a stand. #dayofmourning, #BabiesLivesMatter

The Day of Mourning Facebook page posted quotes from people who participated in the event, like a woman named Sarah who said:

"Thank you so much for organizing this. My heart was broken to pieces as I wept while watching the live feed from my home. I have worked in my local pregnancy center for 11 1/2 years now. I just had a patient of mine abort on the 13th of this month. I was so moved by the service yesterday. God used this movement to encourage me to keep going in the fight for life in my town. I'm so glad someone out there realized the need to mourn these precious little ones! It was especially poignant for me and I just wanted to thank you. Please make this an annual day to mourn these lives. The song at the very end (Not Forgotten), wow! What a beautiful ending to a day of repentance and mourning!!! Again, thank you and please keep challenging the world with the truth of God's Word!"

Two supporters from Apple Valley, CA sent a message saying, "Nathan was going to be aborted nearly 18 years ago praise God His birth mom changed her minds! And we received our gift from God."

Some supporters from Canada even got involved, saying contacting the Day of Mourning page to say:

"This is Kim from St. John's, Newfoundland. I was at our church this afternoon for the Day of Mourning event, and all I can say is that I was wrecked - wrecked in God's presence and burdened for babies in the womb. As we did not know about this event until a couple of days ago, it was difficult for us to get the word out in time here. We did have close to 30 people throughout the day, with most of them staying the entire time. From the very beginning of streaming the service, our people in church were weeping and wailing in God's presence. And it lasted through most all of the event. We come in agreement with you all for abortion to end in America, and we are believing for it in Canada as well! Today has impacted our church more than you know."
