Families Beware: This Super Bowl Ad Tries to Turn Porn Addiction into a Joke

Millions of Americans watching the big game Sunday will encounter more than anticipated.

Devour, a Kraft/Heinz food brand, purchased a commercial spot attempting to turn porn addiction into a laughing matter.

Due to restrictions on content, the food brand will air a 30 second "censored" version during the third quarter according to MovieGuide. However, the brand released the uncensored video to stir up a buzz before its Super Bowl spot.

The 60-second uncut video includes an unmarried couple engaging in sexual innuendos around "frozen food porn". Though the word "porn" cannot be used in the Super Bowl ad, the video still relays its intended message.

In the uncut version, the commercial starts with the girlfriend speaking to the camera stating, "My boyfriend is addicted to frozen food porn." The edited version starts with her stating, "My boyfriend has an addiction."

The unedited commercial continues as the boyfriend drools over the frozen meals, searches for "food porn" online, and neglects intimacy with his partner. It concludes with the girlfriend stating, "Now, we're into amateur food videos" -- a clear reference to amateur porn videos.

Kraft/Heinz went further to promote its Devour brand by purchasing an ad spot on a huge porn website that receives over 80 million viewers a day. The company also set up a hotline number for people to call and hear food porn statements similar to a sexual hotline.

This is not the first time Devour has been promoted with inappropriate content. In 2018, the controversial superhero character Deadpool was used to promote the brand.

In an interview with USA Today Sports, Katy Marshall, head of marketing, stated their target is men. The initiative is similar to many porn websites targeting men as well.

"Actually, we know from the purchase data that both men and women buy them, because delicious food is really for everyone," stated Marshall. "But the primary target for Devour has been male, based on the specific unmet need when we were developing the brand."

WATCH the CBN News Channel on Super Bowl Sunday to see special "Football Sunday" programming at 1pm, 5pm, 8pm and 11pm.  You'll hear stories from Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, Denver Broncos quarterback Case Keenum, and New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis. It's all hosted by New Orleans Saints tight end Benjamin Watson, on location in New Orleans.
