Civilians Caught in the Crosshairs of Iraqi Violence

The U.N. reports that continuous violence in Iraq left at least 670 Iraqi's dead last month - most of them civilians.

The worst of the violence was in Baghdad where 227 civilians were killed and 838 others were injured.
 
The U.N. special representative for Iraq said Tuesday that the conflict has a "heavy toll" on Iraqis and "civilians should not pay the price."
 
ISIS controls much of northern Iraq, declaring the conquered areas a caliphate under Shariah law.
