All Politics Aside for Day of Prayer

The chairman of the national prayer task force, Shirley Dobson said the focus is on forgetting political differences in order to acknowledge dependence on the creator - something President bush said isn't easy.

"This is probably the toughest prayer of all. Particularly for those of us in politics," said Bush.

Organizers say this year's National Day of Prayer came at a critical juncture, a time when the nation is at war, and facing deep divisions at home.

"Nobody has the answers for the problems we're facing either abroad, or in our own land here, and we need to seek divine guidance," said Dobson.

The president called the nation to prayer - a call dating back to America's founding.

Bush said, "It's exactly what our first President did, George Washington. It's the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and to humbly implore his protection and favor.
