Newly Released Senate Spending Bill Would Enable Funding for Religious Freedom

A newly released Senate spending bill would re-authorize funding for the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

Language in the omnibus bill would renew the watchdog for three years. The bi-partisan compromise to re-authorize USCIRF comes after months of lawmaker debate on the issue.

A spokeswoman for Senator Marco Rubio says the move is, "vital for continuing to advance religious freedom worldwide."

Tony Perkins, chairman of the USCIRF appeared on Wednesday's edition of CBN News' Faith Nation to discuss the bill.

Faith Nation is seen weekdays on the CBN News Channel.  For a programming schedule, click here
