Heavenly Peace

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, a host of angels proclaimed,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors” ( )

What wonderful news! God’s favor rests upon us -- His people -- and He promises us peace! So then, why are many Christians shackled by anxiety and fear?

Psalm 46 offers the remedy. It begins by saying,

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”

God is not “long-distance” -- He’s very near and quick to answer.

“So we will not fear,” verse 2 continues, “even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.”

We can get so frantic, worrying about things that seem very pressing. But (NIV) gives the key to finding peace in the midst of the storm:

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations.”

God is on the throne. He owns everything. Legions of angels are at His command. He controls the stars, sky, and weather. And He’s saying, “Will you just be still? I can take care of your problems.”

The devil wants to keep whipping us on a treadmill, making us feel anxious and stressed. But when we take time to humbly kneel before God, the truth of His Word can permeate our hearts.

If the mountains move, God is still in charge! If there’s a war, God remains on the throne! If the economy collapses, God is still with us!

Other great advice about how to find peace is found in :

“Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

It’s true! We need to stop worrying, focus on the Lord, give Him our concerns, and thank Him for His provision. Then we will experience the peace of God which brings joy, assurance and protection.

As we work together to bring this message of hope to the world, may God fill your heart with heavenly peace -- this Christmas and always!
