Your Baby's Cursed!
Pharneeth’s (par-NEETH’s) mother Touj (tooj) blamed herself when she saw her baby for the first time.
“I felt ashamed. I didn’t know what was wrong with me that made him have a torn lip,” Said Touj. “I thought it happened because I didn’t burn incense to my ancestors. Or because I didn’t do good deeds, or was careless with what I ate.”
When Touj brought her baby home, her older son Pharned (par-NEED) was scared by his brother’s appearance.
“I never saw anything like it before. It took me a week before I was able to touch him.,” said the boy.
Neighbors in their village only made matters worse. They believed the baby was cursed and stopped buying groceries at the family’s shop.
Then a pastor told the family about an Operation Blessing program that provides free surgery for kids with cleft palates. We arranged for them to travel to the city where a surgeon repaired the baby’s cleft lip.
“After the operation, my son looked so much better,” Touj told CBN. “And he could eat cereal and did not choke like before. He gained weight and is so handsome.”
Meanwhile, the neighbors have returned to the shop and no longer believe baby Pharnith is cursed.
They now say his lips look good! I am so happy.”
“When by brother came home after the operation, he looked so good!” said Pharned, the older brother.
“Thank you to everyone who helped my son with the operation. Thank you!” added Touj.
