The Smile on Their Faces is Priceless!

Life has been tough for 60-year-old Grandma Saban. She’s a widow raising her granddaughter alone. “I am very poor. I wash dishes for events like weddings and funerals to earn a little money,” she told CBN.

Grandma told us there hasn’t been enough income even to buy food for her granddaughter, Ling. After the pandemic hit, even the dishwashing jobs dried up. She said at one point she got sick and they nearly starved.

“When I was sick I let my grandchild eat. But I didn’t have anything’s to eat. I was malnourished.” Saban said she sent Ling to the neighbor and asked them for food.

That’s when CBN’s Orphan’s Promise helped the family in their desperate situation. First we gave them emergency food packs. Then to help Grandma earn extra money, we gave her what she needed to start a grocery business in her home. “It’s like night and day,” she declared. “I work at home selling groceries. No need to wash thousands of plates! I am so happy!”

Then to increase customers at the store, Orphan’s Promise gave her a sugar cane press so she can make flavored drinks to sell as well. “I am so happy with the new income! My grandchild has enough to eat. She is now able to study at the Orphan’s Promise after school program too!  Thank you so much for everything!” said Grandma Saban.
