A Welcome Healing for Hannia
6-year-old Hannia was born with a hernia. Her parents didn’t realize how serious it was until it ruptured while she was playing on an old fashioned see-saw at her school.
“A girl jumped off the other side and she fell hard,” her mother, Laura, told CBN. “When I saw her I started crying because she was writhing in pain. She could not stand it.”
For years Hannia’s parents wondered why their daughter had suffered with pain in her lower abdomen. They’d been too poor to take her to a doctor.
“When I’m in pain I can’t help her with anything,” Hannia said. “I feel very sleepy and I have to lie down. I prayed ‘God, help me. Make this pain go away.’”
Even after the injury at school the family struggled to find enough money to take their daughter to the hospital. “We had to save money,” said Laura. “I sold bread because my husband’s only earns about $5 dollars a day.”
Finally they scraped enough together to go. “When they did an ultrasound, they saw she had a hernia,” said Laura. “From then on we’ve been struggling to find a way to get surgery.”
When Operation Blessing learned about her condition, we paid for Hannia to receive a free operatoin to repair the hernia. “We’ve had a hard life, but thank God this opportunity came to us like a gift from God!” Laura exclaimed.
A few weeks after the operation, we returned to Hannia’s home and found her riding her bicycle: the surgery was a complete success. “I feel very good!” she said. “I’m excited I can go back to school!” “Thank God for Operation Blessing! I’m very thankful to the people who support them,” added her grateful mom.
