- [Narrator] Ever since theCOVID-19 pandemic started
in the Philippines,
a lot has changed forsix-year-old Francesca.
Now their family canbarely afford daily meals.
They can no longer buy vitamins
and other items like cleaning supplies
because their income is limited.
And Francesca worries she might get sick.
- [Interpreter] I am scared of the virus.
My brother and I don't take any vitamins
because mom can't afford them.
- [Narrator] Francesca's mom Michelle
still earns a little money doing laundry
while her dad works in construction
when there's work available.
But with the economic slowdown,
their combined earnings are not enough
to meet their daily needs.
When we learned aboutFrancesca's situation,
we headed to her community
and gave food packs containing rice,
canned goods and other food supplies
to 100 families.
Since the start of thepandemic in the Philippines,
Operation Blessing has givenmore than 60,000 food packs
to people struggling due to COVID-19.
And Francesca, herbrother and other children
also were given vitamins,
toys and Superbook coloring books.
We also gave families face masks,
cleaning supplies andover-the-counter medicine.
- [Interpreter] Now thatwe have food and vitamins,
I feel safer from the virus.
Thank you very much for coming here
and blessing all of us.
I am so happy
because this is the first time
I've ever received a gift like this.
