A Great American Christmas: Here's the Lineup of Films You Can Still See from Family Channel that Rivals Hallmark

The Great American Family Channel has rolled out an 18-film lineup for holiday movie lovers to watch in the network's all-new Christmas movie season.

The films have been running all day and night since October 22, and the marathon will continue through the end of the year as part of the "Great American Christmas" event. It features actors Candace Cameron Bure, Danica McKellar, Gladys Knight, Daniel Lissing, Jen Lilley, Cameron Mathison, and many more.

"The expanded slate of 18 new titles represents a 50% increase in the network's holiday movie offering in year two and further establishes the brand as a destination for original Christmas movies," reads a statement from the network. 

Great American Family has branded itself as the go-to channel that "celebrates family-friendly traditions every day and every season."

Bure announced her first film with the network in September, just five months after announcing her departure from the Hallmark Channel.

The "Fuller House" star has taken an executive role with GAC media and told Yahoo News she left Hallmark because of failed contract negotiations.

"The truth is, I've been under contract with Hallmark for a very, very long time. And those (years) have been absolutely wonderful. It just so happened that my contract was expiring when Great American Family started up," she said. "So we did not start having those discussions until we were well into negotiations with Hallmark Channel for renewing. And as every business person knows, you've got to do what's right for contracts. It didn't work out with Hallmark and so we started talking to Bill (Abbott)."

She also told Variety the biggest draw to the network was that faith played a major role in some of its films.

"They are going to move much more forward in the faith content, and having both — still having lots of movies, rom-coms, and Christmas movies that don't involve faith, but also ones that really do," she shared. "I think that's what's going to be a big difference in the Great American Family channel, as well as patriotic content."

As CBN News reported, the Great American Family Channel has plans to release a free app that will make its family-friendly content available all year.

This new platform represents an important evolution of the company's digital strategy and gives our passionate fans a fun and engaging new way to interact with our stars in a trusted, family-friendly environment, 365 days a year," Abbott, GAC Media CEO, told Variety.
