Today, Vice President Biden is on the Gulf Coast to check in on efforts to clean up the BP oil spill. He'll be visiting New Orleans and Pensacola to survey response efforts, meet with residents and local officials.
Meanwhile, a call for prayer for the gulf -- The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and the Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN) are calling for July 18 to be a National Day of Prayer for the Gulf.
They're encouraging churches to "pray for the people of the Gulf, the Lord's intervention and deliverance, and the impacts of the oil spill on God's creation."
The organizations will develop resources for churches to use to get the word out about praying for the Gulf.
