More German Homeschoolers Face Prison

06-20-2008

The German government continues its shameful eradication program against a small number of homeschooling families. Next month, homeschoolers Bert and Kathrin Brause go on trial for child abuse. They face 2 years in prison and the loss of their 8 children.

The Brause family lives in rural eastern Germany near the Polish border. We reported last year that the Youth Welfare Office, the same office used by Hitler to take children from their families during the Third Reich, was granted custody of the children. This custody has not been exercised, but means that the Youth Welfare Office can enter the Brause home at any time and take their children.

Herr Brause is a beekeeper by profession, and like most homeschooling families in Germany, the Brauses face economic ruin from state persecution and fines.

The International Human Rights Group, a Christian legal defense organization, will be representing the Brauses in court, and is in need of support. I hope to cover the trial for CBN.
