The stage is set for America to inaugurate Donald Trump as its 45th president.

While his election and inauguration have been met with some disapproval, Pastor Donnie McClurkin says it is time for Christians to focus more on prayer than protests.

In a recent interview with Studio 5, the gospel recording artist admitted he was not a Trump supporter, but he is still in prayer for the president-elect to do well in office.

McClurkin noted, "This is our President and the Christian bodies who are protesting need to stand down now and we need to follow the law of the scriptures and pray that he succeeds."

"There should be no one hoping for his fall or demise," McClurkin added.

McClurkin, who serves as pastor of Perfecting Faith Church in New York, shared some specific prayers as Donald Trump rises to take the country's highest office.

McClurkin said, "I pray that God would cover and protect him; that the insanity and the mania doesn't affect him. That there be no hurt harm or danger, accident, incident that befall him or his family, and that God would stand him up strong. And that God would put people around him that can support good policy that will cause our nation to grow and move forward."
