Newt Gingrich used to be Speaker of the House. This Friday, he will have a new title: “General.” The Brody File has learned that Gingrich will lead an army of 100,000 pastors on a conference call later this week in an attempt to organize strategy to try and override President Obama’s veto on Planned Parenthood funding. It’s being billed as a National Tele-Townhall Meeting that is being called, "How to Defund Planned Parenthood"
Earlier this month, President Obama vetoed legislation that would have repealed Obamacare and defunded Planned Parenthood. The American Renewal Project helped organize the event. “No pastor dare miss the muster and marshaling of troops to overturn the veto to defund Planned Parenthood, whose existence is for the sole purpose of cutting up babies and selling their body parts,” says David Lane with the group.
A vote to override the veto is set for January 26th. The conference call, which will also include Arizona Congressman Trent Franks and Oklahoma Senator James Lankford, is an attempt to get tens of thousands of pastors to mobilize their congregations so they’ll badger their local Congressman and Senators into overriding the veto. It’s all a tall order for sure but Gingrich believes this is a key moment to define Planned Parenthood since he says roughly half of all Americans are still uninformed about what the pro-abortion organization does. Gingrich also will push the idea that there are many other ways to provide healthcare to women. Gingrich’s video message to pastors is below:
