In video obtained exclusively by The Brody File, Ted Cruz told Iowa pastors that it’s up to them to decide who wins the Caucus next week and that, “this race is not going to be decided by a bunch of New York journalists.” Cruz goes on to say that the media is banking on evangelicals throwing up the white flag. “The media wants the men and women in this room to give up, to give up on the country and to give up on our children and grandchildren.” He also laments the fact that tens of millions of Christians don’t vote. “When a majority of believers are staying home, allowing our leaders to be selected by non-believers, is it any wonder that the federal government daily wages a war on life, on marriage, on religious liberty, on the Judeo-Christian values that built this country." Cruz made the comments at a private pastors event Monday in Cedar Rapids.

The American Renewal Project sponsored the private pastors event, which has been a driving force in presidential politics by mobilizing pastors to run for political office and having presidential candidates speak before hundreds of pastors. Cruz has spoken at a number of events. Marco Rubio did a similar event back in November.

For Cruz, it’s pretty simple. He wins Iowa if evangelical pastors get behind him AND make sure the bulk of their congregations are caucusing on Monday night. The Brody File will be in Iowa this week watching it all unfold.

The Brody File also conducted a one-on-one sit-down interview with Cruz in Des Moines Iowa Monday evening. Video clips moving soon.

Ted Cruz: “At the end of the day this race is not going to be decided by a bunch of New York journalists, and by the way, to be clear, they’re going to say over and over again, the race is over, abandon hope, we got a new poll that shows we cannot win. The media wants the men and women in this room to give up, to give up on the country and to give up on our children and grandchildren. 54 million (evangelical Christians) didn’t vote…if you look at where our country is, is it any wonder, when a majority of believers are staying home, allowing our leaders to be selected by non-believers, is it any wonder that the federal government daily wages a war on life, on marriage, on religious liberty, on the Judeo-Christian values that built this country”
