Shout Out to the Dads
I would like to dedicate this entry to my wonderful husband. I was married once before and it ended badly for reasons that were beyond my control. My daughters and I had a very tough time getting through some of the issues that arose during and after my marriage. When we separated, I felt that I would not be marrying again. I wanted to be alone and focus on raising my daughters. I thought that I’d had my chance.
I do believe God gave me and my daughters a second chance. He placed this amazing man in our lives and I will forever be grateful. He is a loving and supportive husband to me and a proud and patient father to my little girls. We could not have dreamed of a better life and my girls could not hope for a better father.
I recently read an article that highlighted step-fathers and their roles in families. Recent findings have found that step-fathers make excellent parents and tend to be more patient and cooperative in many instances than biological fathers. This is not to say that biological fathers are not as good. This is only in families that have been in crisis. Let me just say that I could not agree more.
In my experience, he has been phenomenal and it is wonderful to see some recognition being given for the role a step-father plays. I want to say just how thankful I am for this man and that God thought enough of me to put him in my life. A good father and husband is so important to a family unit and I appreciate that now more than ever.
He has supported me and kept me grounded when things have gotten crazy. He has been there for my daughters for endless big events in their young lives: daddy/daughter dances, daddy day at school, bee stings, boo boos and bad dreams. He is attentive, always thoughtful and just oozes integrity. I recently asked him to pick up some more band-aids at the store on his way home from work. He shows up with a big box of pink band aids with Barbie on them, thinking it would make the girls happy. How can you not absolutely love this guy?!
