Pathology...Revisited

Hello Folks,

Big response to yesterday’s comments on A Pathology of Corruption;  President Obama’s rescinding of what is called the “Mexico City Policy” as it relates to abortion.

To follow up, (I promise not to make it a habit of making a running commentary or daily grading on President Obama’s performance) and to give credit where credit is due:

Yesterday, President Obama lashed out at “shameful” Wall Street executives for claiming billions of dollars in bonuses while their stricken institutions asked taxpayers for support. Mr. Obama described the bonuses as “the height of irresponsibility. Part of what we’re going to need is for the folks on Wall Street who are asking for help to show some restraint,” he said.

“There will be time for them to make profits, and there will be time for them to get bonuses. Now is not that time. The American people understand that we’ve got a big hole that we’ve got to dig ourselves out of, but they don’t like the idea that people are digging a bigger hole even as they’re being asked to fill it up.”

It’s called greed, corruption, and arrogance of power, folks, and I applaud the president for calling it for what it is.

And while we are on the subject:

Exxon Mobil posts record $45.2 billion profit

Oil giant breaks record for full-year earnings despite quarterly slump

The credit card companies are another slave holder we need to escape from!

I e-mailed a response to a friend yesterday: “I do get incensed over the power brokers, and the greedy, sleazy, corporate people riding on the backs of their employees and taxpayers.  And admittedly I have never had much patience with politicians.”

Unlike some commentators who want to see President Obama fail, I really do want to see Obama be successful. My wife, Nedra, and I pray for him, for “wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and insight.”

And specifically  in regard to abortion, I believe the adoption option is the best alternative route. Nedra and I have helped facilitate that “choice” for a number of families over the years. A very fulfilling effort.

In addition, we pray that President Obama and his wife, Michelle, would look at their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, and recognize they once were more than fetuses; they were little people being formed in their mother’s womb.

The specific prayer:

“The king’s (Presidents) heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He turns it wherever He pleases” (Proverbs 21.1).

My good friend and master guitarist/singer/composer musician Phil Keaggy stated it so well in a song he wrote pertaining to this subject asking, Who Will Speak For the Little Ones? Give it a listen.

Thanks, guys,

Scott Ross
