Comedian Kathy Griffin is back in the news, this time for shaving her head bald.

Griffin made the move in support of her sister who is battling cancer.

Photos showing her newly shaven head have been circulating on social media.

And according to People, Griffin's brother died of cancer in 2014, and it's not clear what type of cancer her sister now has.

Griffin made headlines earlier this summer after posting a graphic and disturbing image simulating President Trump's severed head in a video.

She received a significant amount of backlash from both conservatives and liberals. Many called her names, attacked and slammed her to no end on social media.

She later apologized in a video message and admits she took it too far.

"I sincerely apologize. I am just now seeing the reaction to these images," she said. "I am a comic; I crossed the line. I move the line and then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It was not funny. I get it."

"I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far," she said. "I made a mistake and I was wrong."

Whether Griffin was sincere or not in her apology is not important.

But the fact that she mentions forgiveness points to what the message of the gospel is all about.

With that in mind, how should Christians respond to Griffin, a woman who in 2007 publicly cursed Jesus after winning an Emmy award?

Jesus clearly laid out how in scripture.

Luke 6:27-28 (NIV) says, "But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you."

He continued his message in verse 35, where he reiterated to his followers to show compassion to those who are hostile to the gospel message.

"But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil."

So if Christians want to be more like Christ, and truly be the children of God, we should pray for Kathy Griffin, especially during this difficult time in her family.

Pray that God softens her heart and that his love draws her into a relationship with Jesus. Pray for healing for her sister. Pray for comfort for her Mom, who has already lost a child to cancer.

Perhaps by praying for Kathy, we'll understand more of the love God has shown to us all.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
