Many in the media have started to say that Rick Warren could indeed become the next Billy Graham, America’s next pastor.
Rick Warren does not want to be compared to Billy Graham. He is humble about the comparison but it makes him uncomfortable. Read below, watch above.
Warren: Billy Graham is irreplaceable. Let's clear that one up real quick. Billy Graham has been a mentor to me for many, many years, along with Chuck Colson, Os Guinness and a number of other people who have been mentors to me. But he's irreplaceable.
Brody: Makes you uncomfortable when people say that?
Warren: Absolutely. In the first place, Billy Graham is an evangelist. I'm a pastor. I've pastored this church for 28 years. I have a gift of evangelism and I love reaching people for Christ, but I'm not an evangelist. I'm not an itinerate evangelist. I am a trainer of pastors and I've spent most of my life- 28 years - training almost a half a million pastors in 162 countries, and that network is the group I really care about.
