The Brody File is reporting tonight from Bowling Green Kentucky where Rand Paul has just won a landslide victory in the Republican primary here tonight.
Look folks, here’s the deal. The truth of the matter is that Rand Paul’s victory is sending shockwaves through the GOP establishment. They just took down the GOP backed candidate. But there will be peace and unity in the GOP after this battle. There’s no question about it. Paul’s campaign manager David Adams just told me that everything is going to be just fine going forward with McConnell and others. Apparently there is a plan in place to show unity.
There are many reasons why Rand Paul won but keep this in mind. He was the perfect candidate with the perfect message running at the perfect time. Paul is humble and calm. He’s not an angry guy. He had the perfect message in these times of runaway spending and the anti-establishment mood helped him as well. But let’s remember one thing here. Paul’s win shows that the template for Tea Party success in other states will have to be a great, engaging candidate along with a tea party message. You can’t just have the tea party message by itself. You have to have a candidate to sell it, articulate it and bring it home. Paul was home grown. He is a tea partier. His campaign manager is a tea partier. There was authenticity there. That’s extremely important. Paul says he’s not afraid to lose an election and that statement says a lot. The Tea Party movement mobilized for him because they believed him. He was one of them. He was not a Johnny-Come-Lately.
