Eye Carly

Before we get to the Carly Fiorina analysis, do you like the “Eye Carly” title? Do you get it? If you’re a parent with a child between the ages of 7-13 you get it. If not, Google these words: “Disney Channel” and “Carly”. Ok let’s move on.

Here’s something you may not know about the tough as nails former CEO of Hewlett-Packard: she loves Jesus and has given her life to Christ. We’ve spoken about this on camera. Here’s what she told me:

Battling cancer and the death of our younger daughter Lori Ann, I am quite certain, that I would not have been able to endure those without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I am just certain of that. I am forever grateful that I rediscovered a personal relationship with God before that happened.

I grew up knowing I had a personal relationship with Jesus. I prayed everyday all my life. But somehow in the course of my life, it got a little more abstract for me. I came to think of God sort of as a CEO that couldn’t pay attention to every detail, but generally speaking things were working the right way. How could Jesus know what was really going on with me? How could God answer my prayers specifically?

I had a pastor friend who pushed me really hard on that and it caused me to think about how could I be convinced that God has a personal relationship with each of us through Jesus Christ…

It was like a revelation. If human beings can create a global positioning system, that keeps track of billions and billions and billions of moving people and things in every millisecond and provides precise instructions around where you ought to be going…If people can do that, God can do that. God can keep track of us all.

Look, there are plenty of eyeballs on Fiorina right now. She’s earned it with two solid debate performances. There’s no question that Fiorina has a real chance to gobble up plenty of evangelical votes if she plays her cards right. First of all, she has a real faith in Christ so that obviously helps. But she is also staunchly pro-life and simply beloved by the pro-life community. These are two biggies.

There are a couple of danger zones: she believes Kim Davis should have followed “the law” (someone still needs to explain to me the law she broke) down in Kentucky. That won’t help her with evangelicals. In addition, after the Supreme Court ruled on gay marriage she said it was time to move on. That will be a problem too.
