Donald Trump tells The Brody File that he will be, “much stronger in protecting the Evangelicals” than Ted Cruz and invoked Ronald Reagan. “Ronald Reagan, he didn’t read the Bible every day, seven days a week. But, he was a great president. And he was a great president for Christianity. And frankly, I would say that I would be a far better leader. I will be much stronger on boarders. I will be much stronger in protecting the Evangelicals. I’ll be much, much stronger in protecting our country. And I think I’ll be a much better person for Evangelicals but also for everybody else.”

The Brody File sat down with Trump at Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia on Monday afternoon. He received a warm welcome. I know there are evangelicals that are scratching their heads about the Trump appeal to conservative Christians but it’s real.  Many like his no-nonsense lack of political correctness. More analysis coming.

David Brody: “Cruz has his message. You have your message. Evangelicals are sifting through this in Iowa, South Carolina and other places. Why do you believe you stand out over Cruz as it relates to the Evangelical vote? “

Donald Trump: “ Well, number one, and there are lots of ways of looking at it, but beyond all else, Ronald Reagan wasn’t a totally, he didn’t read the bible every day, seven days a week.
