Ladies and gentlemen, do you want "Exhibit A" of mainstream media bias? Here it is: Jonathan Martin and Patrick Healy of The New York Times wrote a "news article" on the presidential debate in Las Vegas Wednesday night.
It could have read as an editorial instead. I've gone through the article and below is a list of their words describing the debate and the candidates. Remember, these are THEIR WORDS. Unbelievable.
New York Times Reporters Jonathan Martin and Patrick Healy on Donald Trump's debate performance:
"He sputtered"
"He lashed out repeatedly"
"Mr. Trump snapped"
New York Times Reporters Jonathan Martin and Patrick Healy on Hillary Clinton’s debate performance:
"She was rarely rattled, and made a determined effort to rise above Mr. Trump's taunts."
"Clearly prepared"
"Clinton had one of the toughest lines of the night"
More from New York Times Reporters Jonathan Martin and Patrick Healy:
On Abortion: They talked about how Trump took a "hard-line" stand on "abortion rights."They never referred to her stance on partial-birth abortion as extreme or controversial.
On the debate itself: "The debate felt less like an argument between equals than a last-ditch attempt by a fading candidate, Mr. Trump, to save himself."
On how this election is all but over: "Mrs. Clinton, reaching for not just a win but a mandate."
The article ends with this quote and last impression from Clinton: "I would like to say to everyone watching tonight that I'm reaching out to all Americans, Democrats, Republicans and independents," she said, "because we need everybody to help make our country what it should be."
Note: they never mentioned her "basket of deplorables" comment. You think that might have been appropriate in the article considering she just said that she's, "reaching out to all Americans."
Honestly, this is shameful. Put this in the editorial section and it's fine. But this is "above the fold" in The New York Times and affects how millions of Americans see the debate. The New York Times carries enormous influence. In this case, what we just saw was enormous media bias instead.
