DUMB AND DUMBER: Eating Sugar and Refined Carbs

11-02-2012

Perhaps you saw my recent story about how many physicians are now embracing the idea that cholesterol DOES NOT cause heart disease. If you missed it, I would encourage you to read it read it here.

As it turns out, the real cause of heart disease is sugar...regular ol' table sugar, but also the other types, especially high fructose corn syrup.

It's very important to know that, as far as your body is concerned, refined carbohydrates are also sugar, because that's what they turn into as soon as you eat them. Refined carbohydrates are all the grains to which God gave color, but man has turned white. Examples of refined carbs are white sandwich bread, hot dog and hamburger buns, english muffins, bagels, pizza crust, white crackers, and most cereals.

So we know sugar and refined carbs are bad for your heart. But guess what? It looks like they also CAUSE CANCER! Well, perhaps a more accurate way to put that would be sugar and refined carbs FEED cancer cells.

So take that one step further: if carbohydrates (sugar is a carbohydrate) FEED cancer, how would you STARVE cancer? Deprive the cancer cells of carbohydrates, of course.

But does that work??? YES IT DOES!

There are many examples of human beings who have tested this theory on their own cancer and witnessed their cancer disappearing! I recently interviewed one of these success stories, a wonderful man named Fred Hatfield of Tampa, Fla.

He put it this way: "I believe that the ketogenic diet I followed contributed to my recovery from metastatic prostate cancer. Three doctors told me that I had three to four months to live after they discovered widespread metastatic cancer throughout my skeletal structure. One day it vanished. God showed His mercy in a way that stumped all of the doctors."

The bottom line is simple: the cancer patients stop eating carbohydrates and their cancer dies. Of course, let's be honest: depriving yourself of carbohydrates is not easy, but which would you rather do: eat carbs or die of cancer?

On a personal note, I am currently depriving myself of carbohydrates because I have had cancer (melanoma) and I do not want it coming back! I can tell you from personal experience that a low-carb diet is not as hard as I thought it would be. It certainly has its advantages.

First of all, you lose weight! Also, your energy level stays steady throughout the day, which means you don't ride the roller coaster of perkiness followed by fatigue. I noticed after about a week or so I stopped craving carbs and I actually don't feel very hungry. So overall, I feel better!

The thinking behind this approach to starving cancer is, as I mentioned, that cancer cells thrive on glucose, which comes from carbohydrates. If you don't eat carbohydrates, your body switches to an alternate energy source, ketones.

Now here's the really cool part: while most of your cells throughout your body are happy to accept ketones as an energy source, CANCER CELLS REJECT ketones as fuel! That means since the cancer cells don't have glucose (carbs) as fuel, and they don't have ketones as fuel, they have no fuel at all....so they die!

You may be wondering why more cancer doctors don't tell their patients to go off carbs, which is also called a "ketogenic diet." It's because doctors are scientists. They need scientific proof before recommending a treatment to their patients. Although there are many people who have personal testimonials that the ketogenic diet cures cancer, that isn't enough for most doctors. They need study results.

Okay, so why aren't there a bunch of people studying how a ketogenic diet affects cancer cells? Well, first of all, studies are massively expensive! Who has that kind of money?

Drug companies. Drug companies usually pay for medical studies....but only when what is being studies is a drug. Why? Because once the study is completed, the drug being studied is then approved for sale. That way the drug company can make a lot of money from the drug sales and the money they paid for the study was well worth it.

But no drug company is going to pay to study how a ketogenic diet affects cancer. They can't make any money off of that. So funding for ketogenic diet/cancer studies has to come from a source other than a drug company.

Thankfully, there are some people who are studying a ketogenic diet's affect on cancer. Recently I visited the lab at the University of South Florida, headed by Dr. Dominic D'Agostino. The folks there are currently studying how mice with cancer react to a ketogenic diet.

Also, a study was recently completed and featured in the journal, The Prostate, in which mice with prostate cancer improved on a ketogenic diet.

Hopefully scientific evidence like this will convince doctors to recommend their cancer patients switch to a ketogenic diet and kill their cancer the natural way. Until then, people will just have to hear about the benefits of the ketogenic diet through other means.
