Secession, Sedition, Collusion, Oh My!

Beijing implemented its new security law in Hong Kong two weeks ago. On the very first day, one person was arrested for carrying a flag that advocated for Hong Kong's independence from China.

Last weekend, more than 600,000 people took part in a primary election, but Beijing's top representative to Hong Kong said the primary election contravened the law.

The law casts a wide net over what could be considered anti-government and any violation carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Beijing's officials say the law will only affect a handful of citizens, but many Christians in Hong Kong fear that this is a signal of potential persecution.
