Final Examination for Great Leaders of the Book
Summary
Everyone loves good stories, especially ones that contain adventure, romance, intrigue, and mystery. As Christians, we need to go no further than the Bible, which is filled with "biographies" of men and women of God. Their true stories often assume larger-than-Iife stature in our minds, however, simply because they appear in Scripture. By placing them on a pedestal, we often fail to relate to these great "heroes" of faith. But the true purpose of telling their stories is to encourage rather than to overwhelm us. Woven throughout the lives of these rather ordinary people are very extraordinary deeds -- accomplished only through the power of a loving and merciful God. Our own relationship with the Lord and His people will be enriched through the study of great men and women of God. And we can learn from their mistakes -- avoiding some of the pitfalls they experienced.
