EXCLUSIVE PHOTO: Take a Look at A&E's New Veterans-Centered Show, "Dogs of War"

A&E, the network that brings us Duck Dynasty and Storage Wars, is going to be airing an intriguing new docuseries called Dogs of War beginning this Veterans Day. The reality show follows the transformational journey of veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder as they are paired with shelter dogs who are specially trained to help them adjust to life at home.

“This series is full of raw, real and intensely emotional moments that don’t often get a spotlight in mainstream media,” said David McKillop, General Manager and Executive Vice President of A&E. “Each veterans’ story of survival is humbling and we are proud to create a series that captures the light at the end of the tunnel for these heroes.”

Paws and Stripes, the organization behind this new TV series, is the creation of veteran Jim Stanek and his wife, Lindsey. Suffering from severe PTSD after three tours in Iraq, Jim was stuck on a long waiting list to get a service dog. Tired of the road blocks, the Staneks decided to found an organization that adopts and trains unwanted shelters dogs and pairs them with veterans in need.

Dogs of War premieres Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on A&E.
