American Sniper Release to Support Wounded Warrior Project
Clint Eastwood's Academy Award-winning war drama, American Sniper, releases on DVD and Blu-ray this Tuesday (May 19), just in time for Memorial Day. And to honor our military, Warner Bros. has announced it will donate $1 for every movie sold until the end of the year to the Wounded Warrior Project.
The controversial film stars Bradley Cooper as decorated U.S. Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, a performance that earned him an Oscar nomination, and English actress Sienna Miller (who plays Kyle's wife, Taya).
A big part of the controversy surrounding the movie is a debate over whether the film glorifies a killer or rightly honors an American soldier. Regardless of which side you're on, the cast and crew hope you engage with this military family's story.
"I was just hoping that it really would be a movie seen for what it was, at least intended to be, which was a movie about soldiers and their families. That's it," says Cooper.
"Regardless of whether you believe in a particular war or not, you have to value the fact that these people are willing to go over there and make these sacrifices for us. That to me is the most importance aspect of this movie," says producer Rob Lorenz.
