Dumbo Soars in Disney's New Sneak Peek

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine

- "Baby Mine" (Dumbo)

You hear the melody, don’t you? If you’ve ever seen Walt Disney’s Dumbo (1941), you can. You’d know “Baby Mine” anywhere.

Playing it again now, I’m taken back to my childhood when I first saw that little elephant fly. But, there’s something deeper that I couldn’t fully grasp as a kid watching that VHS tape.

Generations know and (mostly) love Dumbo. They can hear this sweet song and immediately picture Dumbo’s darling, emotional eyes and floppy giant ears. They can see that heartbreaking scene play out when he reaches for his mother, who’s caged in a circus trailer marked “Mad Elephant”. That separation. The tears in both their eyes. I know it’s a “cartoon”, but it gets me! I’m guessing, it got some of you too.

A mother’s love is fierce (and an elephant mama is no different). Dumbo’s story shows us that. And, it shows us how isolating being different can truly be, as well as, how having the courage to be who you are – how God made you – can lift you to new heights.

For these reasons, and because I liked what I saw in the first trailer for Disney’s 2019 remake, I was excited to get last night’s email about a brand-new Sneak Peek. Take a look with me...

Watch a Sneak Peek for Disney’s Dumbo:

Brought to life by the imagination of legendary director Tim Burton (Alice In Wonderland, Big Fish, Batman Returns), this live-action adventure features an all-star ensemble cast that includes: Colin Farrell (Saving Mr. Banks), Eva Green (Casino Royale), Danny DeVito (Batman Returns), and Michael Keaton (Batman).

Dumbo is rated PG for "peril/action, some thematic elements, and brief mild language" and releases in theaters nationwide on March 29, 2019.
