Braid is an Xbox Live Arcade (XBA) game that requires you to solve puzzles in order to save the girl you love.  You play as a young man named Tim on his quest to find the girl he let get away.  As you move from world to world through the main hub, which is your home, you begin to read journal entries about Tim’s relationship and why he is trying to find his true love.

The Puzzles

Braid’s puzzles are some of the most ingenious I have ever played.  The game is a side scrolling game that requires you to find keys to be able to unlock doors and retrieve puzzle piece, which when all put together, reveals a key part of the story-line that you don’t get from the journal entries.

Braid doesn’t have a life involved in it instead you are given the ability to manipulate time reversing leaps of death, or mis-calculated enemy stomps.  The time concept is one of the main tools you will need to utilize to solve the puzzles.

A New Super Mario

Braid encapsulates a lot of the classic Mario story-line, boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy fights his way to the end to be able to get the girl back, but adds a lot of new twists to that plot to make it a new story altogether.  This is one of the most intriguing games I have played in a long time.

Final Word

Braid is rated Everyone 10+ (E10+) by the ESRB and contains some language and mild cartoon violence.  The concept of the game is very interesting but I would have to say that this game is definitely for an older crowd.

Tim is on a quest to save his Princess but at the end of the day when he finally gets to her to be her prince charming you discover that Tim is actually a stalker and the girl has no clue who he is.  Braid is an interesting story wrapped in amazing puzzles and game play.  It is an Xbox 360 exclusive download.
