Brody File Exclusive: Rand Paul Says Republican Party Needs 'Community Organizers'

In a one-on-one interview with The Brody File, Sen. Rand Paul says Republicans must do a much better job reaching minorities with their message, saying that they need to look at forming, “Republican Community Organizers.

“I think the funny thing, or the ironic thing, is some Republicans said, 'Oh, the President is just a community organizer.’ Well, being a, community organizer is actually important for a politician,” Paul tells The Brody File. “It’s being part of a community and I think we need to have Republican Community Organizers, basically going into the community or people who are from the community hiring them and saying,'What is it? Can we go to church, a picnic, a bar-b-que? How do we relate and let people know that we do care about their situation, about making it better?”

Paul made these comments in the context of a larger issue about how Democrats have failed minorities.

This interview was done at the Pastors and Pews event in Des Moines, Iowa, last week. The video is below along with a partial transcription.

Does Rand Paul want to grow the party for political gain? That’s definitely part of the equation but my experience with him is that he really has a heart to bring the message of liberty and freedom to those who haven’t really heard it preached in their own backyard. This type of approach makes Paul a wild card with a boatload of potential in the 2016 presidential race…if he runs (cough, cough).

I think in some ways we might be able to beat the Democrats hands down because the Democrats I think take all of this vote for granted and they’ve left people in rotting schools in the inner cities, full of drugs, full of crime, full of no discipline, really full of no hope. President Obama was supposed to be this great ‘hope and change’ president but if you live in the inner city of Chicago you know what’s going on? Mass murder...
